SIDI IS A 2010 WORLD CHAMPION IN SUPERSPORT 600 WITH KENAN SOFUOGLU
With his second place finish at the Magny Cours circuit on Sunday, October 3, Kenan Sofuoglu (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) captured the Supersport 600 World Title, for the second time after the 2007 title, giving the Sidi colours yet another prestigious World Championship victory.
In spite of the success of his closest rival, Eugene Laverty (Parkalgar Honda) winner of the French GP, the awesome Turkish pilot captured second place to close out the world rankings with an 11-point lead over the Irish rider. Italian Michele Pirro (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) was on hand to complete Sidi’s excellent performance. He’s always been a major player in the battle for the World Title, and he came in eighth. At the top of the Supersport 600 World podium with Kenan Sofuoglu are his Sidi Vortice boots, number one on any track. Sofuoglu won the world title with a total 263 points, against Laverty ‘s 252. Joan Lascorz came in third, followed in the rankings by Chaz Davies, who’s fourth with 153 points, and Michele Pirro in fifth place with 99 points.
Overall, from 2006 to 2010 Sofuoglu has won two world titles with 17 wins from 56 races, a record in the Supersport category. Now for the Turkish pilot begins the adventure of Moto2.
