Motonation’s booth is in the new Gear & Apparel section of the exhibit hall and is larger than last year to accommodate all the new products. For 2011, the distributor is offering 10 new Sidi models, four new Vemar helmets, and a number of new AGV Sport jackets and pants that are being announced at the show.
Bill Berroth, president of Motonation, says the company doesn’t offer show specials because its standard program is incentive enough. “Protected sales territories, strong trade guidelines, great terms/margins and promotional support set us apart,” he says. “Moto¬nation’s marketing and promotional investment in driving consumer demand has not decreased due to the current economic climate. We have stayed on the gas investing in our brands and have had great success!”
Dealernews reported on several new Sidi boots in our December and February issues, including Gore-Tex models, new rain boots and “Air” models featuring perforated lorica. Here we take a look at a few items from the other brands.
AGV Sport’s Malibu Kevlar Jeans
AGV Sport’s Malibu Kevlar jeans retail for $99 and come in waist sizes 30-44 and lengths 30-36.
DuPont Kevlar coverage is in the hips and sides of the legs, knees and upper shins and throughout the seat and upper hamstrings.
The jeans have anti-scratch plastic buttons, two front pockets with a small change pocket, and two rear pockets with button-down flaps.
Shadow Kevlar-reinforced Denim Jacket
Matching the jeans is the Shadow Kevlar-reinforced denim jacket retailing for $99 and coming in sizes XS-XXL. DuPont Kevlar coverage is on the complete back and down the length of each arm. The jacket has metal buttons, two front breast pockets, two front hand warmer pockets, and pockets for optional back protector and shoulder/elbow cups.
Both the jacket and jeans have a relaxed fit and are machine-wash and -dry.
The Vemar Jiano Evo TC modular helmet is not only DOT-approved, but CE-certified as a full-face helmet (meaning the chin bar was tested). The shell is constructed from Kevlar, carbon fiber and fiberglass, and has a mid-oval shape. The shield can close even when the chin bar is opened. A replaceable tint interior shield is moved into position via a lever on the exterior left side of the helmet, and can be used even when the chin bar is rotated upward.
In addition to a chin bar lock mechanism, a face cover lock uses metal pins and hooks. A recessed actuation button is easy to use with gloved hands. The cheekpads and liner are removable and washable. The ventilation is adjustable. A padded chin strap has a micro-adjustable closure buckle.
Vemar uses two shell sizes in a XXS-XXL size run. Standard retail is $375. A Bluetooth version with a nonreplaceable sunshield is available for $595. Each helmet comes with an extra shield. An optional LED cheekpad with internal battery retails for $99 and replaces the left standard cheekpad.
