Forcefield Sport Lite 2 Back Protector review from webbikeworld

by Bill C.

Summary
The new Forcefield Sport Lite 2 back protector has a thin profile and it's comfortable, while still providing EC Level 2 protection.

The overall design is similar to the Pro Sub 4, but the Sport Lite 2 back protector is about 30% thinner.

It also has a slightly different profile, which allows an easier fit under a motorcycle jacket. But if you're not used to wearing a back support, the waist belt can be a bit uncomfortable

While the Forcefield Pro Shirt feels more comfortable and provides more comprehensive upper body protection, the Sport Lite 2 back protector is a good solution.

Introduction
We're reviewing two Forcefield Body Armour products in this abbreviated series, the Forcefield Sport Lite 2 described here and the Forcefield Pro Shirt (review).

I described the background about Forcefield in the Pro Shirt review, so I won't repeat it here, other than to say that Forcefield Body Armour is now being distributed in the U.S.A., Canada and Mexico by Motonation. Motonation also distributes Sidi, AGV Sport and Vemar Helmets and gear from all of those manufacturers has been reviewed on webBikeWorld.com.

Sidi Charger Offroad Boots review on TrackdayMag.com

Written by K3 Chris Onwiler

As racetrack season winds to a close in all but the most southern regions of our Northern Hemisphere, those of us with the addiction begin looking for other ways to get our motorcycle fix. Be it on soil or ice, "we who won't take a season off" are beginning to focus on dirtbikes. If you're planning on trying a bit of off-pavement action this winter, your roadracing footwear is completely inadequate. It's time for you to buy a pair of motocross boots.

Last year, TrackdayMag.com ran an article called Ice Ice Baby. There, we declared that we were going to spend the winter of 2011/2012 sliding around on frozen lakes. Unfortunately, it never got cold enough for the water to freeze! In preparation for this ice riding that never happened, we bought a set of Sidi Charger Offroad Boots. A whole year later we've finally had a chance to test them and all we can say is "Wow!" If you're a gear guy who appreciates trick, ultra-functional design and top-rate build quality, you'd want a set of these just to keep them on a display shelf. The Chargers really are that nice...

FORCEFIELD WORLD CHAMPION

CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS HOLDER

Forcefield sponsored speedway racer Chris Holder won his maiden World Title on 6th October at the Marian Rose Motoarena in Torun, Poland. The 25-year-old went into the final round of the 2012 series holding a two point lead over Nicki Pedersen, and Holder made the perfect start to Round 12 with a determined win in his opening ride.

Holder followed his victory with a second place in heat 6, and a further point was added in his third ride. In the headline heat 13, Holder returned to winning ways with a dominant win over his nearest championship challenger Nicki Pedersen, the win also secured his place in the semi-finals.

With Pedersen faulting in his qualification races, and making his way through to the semi-finals on the count back system, Holder headed into the semi-finals needing just four points to seal a series victory.

Both Holder and Pedersen were up against each other in the second semi-final, and in a tight first bend, the Dane fell after being nudged off his bike by the Australian, but the referee judged that all four riders would return for a restart.

And in that restart, Holder made the best gate to lead into the first bend, he went on to win the race and secure his maiden World Title after Nicki Pedersen could only manage third place.

Holder was joined by Antonio Lindback, Tomasz Gollob and Greg Hancock in the final race of the 2012 series, and it looked like he would cap the meeting off with a meeting victory but on the first lap his bike packed up.

Antonio Lindback went on to win the meeting ahead of a hard charging Tomasz Gollob with Greg Hancock completing the podium.

Blazusiak Dominates Denver EnduroCross

Taylor Robert and Mike Brown battled with several riders to take second and third respectively

Denver, CO (October 6, 2012) – Just one race ago, it appeared that the rest of the EnduroCross riders had closed the gap on KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak but he crushed the field in the Mile High city of Denver to reaffirm his dominance of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross series. Blazusiak got pushed back on the start but quickly passed Taylor Robert and Cody Webb to get into second. He then passed Mike Brown and took the lead before the end of the first lap and eventually won by a large margin. Robert, Brown and Webb had a fierce battle for second that ultimately went to Robert over Brown.

The day started with the MVP Racing Hot Lap, which puts the riders on the track one at a time against the clock to earn the best picks for the heat races and bragging rights. Lucas Oil / Rockstar backed Colton Haaker set a time that looked unbeatable but Taddy Blazusiak set a 1:03:591 to beat out Haaker’s 1:03:684. Monster Kawasaki’s Robert set the third fastest time.

Robert, Brown and Blazusiak won the three heat races to get the best gate picks for the main event. Colorado local Kyle Calderini made the main by winning semi number one. Husky’s Cory Graffunder won semi two after a great batter with Haaker. Then Gary Sutherlin passed Geoff Aaron on the last lap of semi three to get into the main. The LCQ still had several top riders fighting for the final two spots in the main, which ultimately went to Wild Wally Palmer on the All Wheel Drive Christini ahead of Geoff Aaron on the GEICO Honda. Haaker, Bobby Prochnau and Destry Abbott all went down in the first turn and joined GEICO Honda’s Kevin Rookstool among the riders that missed making the main event.

After Blazusiak took the lead on the first lap, Monster Kawasaki’s Robert stayed close in second for four laps before a big crash in the Matrix section dropped him back to fourth behind Brown and Webb. First Brown and then Webb had problems that allowed Robert to get back to second a few laps later where he would ultimately finish. Webb, who came into the race in second in points took a long time getting his Beta to re-start after a crash and eventually went a lap down and finished tenth. Aaron rode a steady race to get fourth ahead of Justin Soule, who came back from a first lap crash. Husky’s Graffunder beat out his teammate, Kyle Redmond for sixth. Sutherlin got eighth, Palmer ninth, Webb tenth and Calderini eleventh.

The night also included the Open Amateur class, which was won by David Broderick over Dustin McCarthy and Harrison Oswald. Bailey Tucker won the TrialsCross class over Joey Hamilton and Shad Petersen. The Vet 35+ class had over thirty riders entered and Kurt Nicoll took the win in the main event over Robert Farrington and Dennis Sweeten. Canada’s Chantelle Bykerk took her second women’s main event win in a row over fifteen year old Morgan Tanke and Louise Forsley.

SUPERSPORT KENAN SOFUOGLU WORLD CHAMPION WITH SIDI

Third World title for the Turkish rider. The Sidi Vortice boot is with him.

For the Sidi colors 2012 has really been a year to remember in motosports, off road as much as on the track. After victories in the world of motocross – in the men’s field with Tony Cairoli and in the women’s world with Kiara Fontanesi – now from the track Sidi has claimed another prestigious trophy for our collection. That would be Kenan Sofuoglu’s World title in the Supersport class. This success has even come one race before the end of the World series; in fact the last act will take place on Sunday, October 7 in Magny Cours, France. Thanks to the second place he garnered on the Portuguese circuit in Portimao, in the second-to-last race, the Turkish pilot was crowned World Supersport Champion for the third time in his career, the first as a pilot for team Kawasaki Lorenzini. These are record numbers for the ace from Adapazari, the undisputed leader in World Supersport in terms of victories (21 total), trips to the podium (no less than 48 out of 68 races) and now even World titles, a whopping three (2007, 2010, 2012).
Kenan Sofuoglu and Sidi are a winning partnership. On his victorious rides throughout the season and all the way to his triumph on the highest step of the World Championship podium, Sofouglu was wearing Sidi Vortice boots, the number one footwear for speed and track.

Forcefield Pro Shirt Review on Webbikeworld.com

Summary

The Forcefield Body Armour Pro Shirt is a surprisingly comfortable way to get your full dose of protection.
The stretchy material fits like a second skin -- just like the company says.
And you'll never know you're wearing a Forcefield CE Level 2 back protector, built into a pocket in the shirt.
The other surprise is that the Pro Shirt has better ventilation than we expected -- or at least doesn't feel as hot as we thought it might. So dump that cheap padding in your too-loose-fitting jacket and wear one of these instead (along with a pair of Pro Pants).
You'll probably end up with better quality armor that will provide a higher level of protection.
As a bonus, you'll probably find that the jacket feels more comfortable because without its armor, a jacket will move more easily over the body.
And the body-hugging fit of the Forcefield Pro Shirt means that the armor has a better chance of staying in place and doing its job when or if the time comes.
Introduction

Starting on October 1, 2012, the distribution of Forcefield Body Armour in the U.S.A., Canada and Mexico has changed. The new distributor is Motonation, well-known to motorcyclists as the company that distributes Sidi, AGV Sport and Vemar Helmets in those countries.
This is excellent news and it will mean that Forcefield products will become more readily available at the webBikeWorld affiliate retailers.

Sidi Tour Gore-Tex Boots review at allaboutbikes.com

If you're a motorcycle rider who wants to keep your feet dry in wet conditions, but cool and comfortable in hot conditions, Sidi Tour Gore-Tex Boots are one of your best options. These boots have a breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex membrane that keeps your feet totally dry both in the heat and the rain, but at the same time allows your feet to breath so that they don't sweat when it's really hot. If you aren't already familiar with Sidi, this is a good opportunity to rectify that. Sidi is renowned for manufacturing quality products — and not just for motorcycle riders, too. Whether you're involved with road racing, road riding, or even cycling, Sidi provides serious protection and high quality.

Testing the Sidi Tour Gore-Tex Boots

I tested for these boots when I rode up to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, a road trip that took me from one weather extreme to another and then back again. As I rode through the area's microclimates, I quickly went from a hot, sunny 95 degrees to a chilly, rainy 65 degrees. This allowed me to really test the ability of these boots to both keep my feet dry and to keep them overheating.
