Inside Moto X and Off Road featured the Vemar VRX9 helmet and SIDI Crossfire 2 SR boot!

Our friends north of the border offered up a couple great reviews of a couple new products from Vemar and Sidi!

First up was the Vemar VRX9 helmet! As with most people who've tried it, he was surprised by the lightness and air flow, which were the main design focuses for this new helmet from Vemar. Check it out at your local shop, or ask your dealer why they don't have this great lid in stock to compare!

Next up, Inside Moto X reviewed the new SIDI Crossfire 2 SR. The previous Crossfire boot was a tough one to beat, but only Sidi could come up something just a bit better. One of the most important features is something you wouldn't even notice. They used much less stitching on this boot compared with the old style which reduces weight and potential points of failure. Leave it to Sidi to be the only company who could come up with a better boot!

Dirt Wheels Magazine + Sidi Crossfire 2 and Vemar VRX9

The March issue of Dirt Wheels magazine features the new Sidi Crossfire 2 and the Vemar VRX9.

Dirt Wheels magazine hits the nail on the head with the Sidi Crossfire 2 boots being "trick." It is the only way Sidi designs their footwear. But behind that trick look is even more tricker...or more trick. Trickest! features on any boot on the market today. That is unless you are reading this post in the year 2020 and a boot manufacture happened to finally stumble across some ideas and will pass it off as their own, but done in a really unoriginal and shitty way. But hey, that is the game of manufacturing and design. For business people I guess it just becomes an instinct to do so.

Also featured is the Vemar VRX9 off road helmet. Available in a large array of graphics, including the Vemar "Night Vision" option. Light weight, great fit, and looks great on any head. Glowing in the dark or not.

Deciding Which Shield You Need for your Vemar Eclipse Helmet

So you want to get a new shield for your Vemar Eclipse helmet eh? In 2011, Vemar changed the style of the Eclipse shield and fitting system. The current shield fitting system is shown in the top left image. If you purchase a Vemar Eclipse helmet today, your helmet will come standard with the shield and fitting system on the left. If you purchased your helmet between mid-2011 and before, there is a chance the Eclipse helmet you own looks more like the one on the right.

You can see below the different in detail on the shields below. If you are looking to get a new shield for your Vemar helmet, review the images and see which one matches your helmet.

If you wish to order the current shield and/or shield fitting kit, you may reference the following part numbers with your Vemar retailer. If you have a pre-2011 helmet, the current shield will work on your helmet, but you have to make sure you purchase the shield fitting kit as well to place the older mechanism.

VES-ZE11-SH-KT Eclipse 2011 shield fitting kit - black
VES-ZE11-SH-50 Eclipse 2011 shield - Light tinted 50%, antiscratch/fog retardant
VES-ZE11-SH-MI Eclipse 2011 shield - Mirror, antiscratch

If your shield reflects the image above and you wish to keep this style of shield and/or kit, please use the following part numbers with your Vemar retailer.

VES-ZECL-SH-KT Eclipse shield fitting kit - black
VES-ZECL-TO-00 Eclipse racing shield - Clear, antiscratch/fog retardant + tear-off kit
VES-ZECL-TO-50 Eclipse racing shield -  50% tint, antiscratch/fog retardant + tear-off kit

Below you can see the comparison between the two shields and how they look new without being attached to a helmet along with their part numbers.

If you are still having trouble deciding....Motonation is of course always here to help! Snap a pic of your helmet and email it to warranty@motonation.com with the subject line "What Eclipse shield do I need?"

Vemar Eclipse Night Vision Helmet | Motorcyclist 2012 Moty Award Winner!

Some exciting news to break! Motorcyclist Magazine has awarded the Vemar Eclipse Night Vision helmet with a coveted Moty award for 2012. Each year, Motorcyclist Magazine singles out the best gear and the best new technology that improves not only the safety aspect of our fun little obsession, but makes it a little more fun as well. The last Motonation product to win a Moty award was the introduction of the Sidi Vertigo Corsa street boot. We are more than excited to have the Vemar Eclipse Night Vision fall into that same level of quality matched with innovation.

What makes the Vemar Eclipse Night Vision so special? Let's talk about an Italian brand helmet, made in Italy, and by a family owned manufacture that has a steep history in helmet production (Shark, Sparco, Ducati private label to name a few...) With quality comes exclusivity which is why the name Vemar may not be on the tip of your tongue when thinking of helmets. There is a reason you won't see 500 Vemar models sitting on the floor of your local dealer. Think about that Ford or Toyota dealership you drive past on your morning commute to work. Now think about that exotic car dealership that you have always wanted to go into. Same idea.

The "Night Vision" specific model of the Eclipse takes the already popular and excellent Eclipse model and ads a glowing paint scheme. This idea was originally produced for fire departments in Italy, but Vemar saw that offering this paint scheme to the public was a good idea as well. While other manufacturer's past attempt's at making a glowing paint theme came off as gimmicky, the Eclipse Night Vision comes in as a Hi-Viz safety feature that blows the door's off what was previously thought of as "H-Viz." I could write about it all day but check below and see for yourself.

Vemar Jiano Modular Helmet

David Wells
March 15, 2012

New to the snowmobile market last season, Vemar helmets are made in Italy and distributed throughout North America by Motonation, a company in Santee, California. Vemar’s Jiano modular lid is DOT-certified and features a dropdown internal sun shade that’s activated by a side-mounted lever that has near-vertical motion.

A thermoplastic outer shell encloses a dual-density polystyrene inner shell to provide a solid protection platform for this helmet. Built in two distinct shell sizes for better fit, the Jiano definitely runs small for American heads. I needed a size XXL instead of an XL like I normally wear, and still found the chin bar clearance near my jaw to be marginal. Weight is slightly less than 4 pounds, depending on size.

There is no internal face mask in this helmet, which is right up my alley as I just can’t stand a wet, slimy breathing contraption over my face all day. There are no filters to replace or little tubes that freeze shut or break like I’ve experienced with other modular helmets.
Other key features include metal-to-metal chin bar latches, adjustable chin bar and crown vents, and a quick-release chinstrap buckle. Quick release buckles are hard to find on helmets these days, so this feature is a very nice plus. The snow version includes a no-tool, anti-fog dual-lens face shield that can be installed and removed pretty easily. A protective soft cloth bag is also included.

Vemar Jiano Modular Helmet: High Value

The $275 Vemar Jiano is available in black, white or silver ranging from XXS to XXL. The optional electric shield with a two-piece convenience cord is $124. Replacement standard dual-lens shields are $74, and replacement inner sunshades are $35. Warranty is a full five years, so the price becomes very attractive when amortized over the anticipated life of this helmet.
Vemar Jiano modular helmetI found the Vemar Jiano to be a moderately comfortable, reasonably easy-to-use helmet that is well suited to snowmobiling. If you’re ready to move up from ordinary helmets to something better, the Jiano is definitely worth .

**At the time of this review was written the Vemar Jiano's Retail Price was listed at $275.00 since that time the Retail Price for the Vemar Jiano has been slashed to $195.00 making it an exceptional value**

Vemar Off Road VRX7 Review on Webbikeworld.com

Summary
The Vemar VRX7 is a good-looking, light weight and comfortable off-road helmet.
...the VRX7 performs surprisingly well as a street helmet and it's quieter than many full-face or dual-sport helmets.

The finish is one of those differences; off-road or motocross helmets are known for their loud colors and graphics and the VRX7 in this yellow, white and black high-contrast "Spinning" color is an eye-popper but in a good way.

However, the most significant difference -- and one that isn't obvious until you pick it up -- is the helmet's light weight. The VRX7 is made in Italy from a carbon fiber, aramid and fiberglass blend and it's among the lightest helmets we've ever put on the webBikeWorld scale.

The VRX7 is a North American helmet only (i.e., not sold in Europe). The shell is made in three sizes to cover an expanded head size range, so everyone should be able to find that perfect fit. But I'm getting ahead of myself here, so let's take a closer look...

Helmet Weight
The carbon-aramid-fiberglass shell construction of the VRX7 does seem to lower the weight and the helmet indeed feels light, which helps reduce rider stress.
In fact, the VRX7 is one of the lightest helmets we've ever weighed out of 171 helmets reviewed to date.

The VRX7 has definitely won me over; indeed, I'd rather wear this helmet than any of the dual-sport helmets I've tried...at least in hot, dry weather. Besides, it looks great on the DR650!

The VRX7 costs less than the rather outrageously priced Shoei off-road helmets and my feeling is that it's nearly equivalent. It costs more than many of the cheaper off-road helmets but you're also getting the five-year Vemar warranty and you're buying the light weight and solid shell.

Nicola from Vemar visits Motonation

Nicola, of Vemar helmets, visited Motonation today to celebrate his birthday. Well most likely did not come to beautiful Santee, CA just for his birthday....but we celebrated it anyways.

note: the smile on Nicola's face isn't from the gesture of a card, but more from what was on it.
