Vemar Eclipse Night Vision Helmet | Motorcyclist 2012 Moty Award Winner!

Some exciting news to break! Motorcyclist Magazine has awarded the Vemar Eclipse Night Vision helmet with a coveted Moty award for 2012. Each year, Motorcyclist Magazine singles out the best gear and the best new technology that improves not only the safety aspect of our fun little obsession, but makes it a little more fun as well. The last Motonation product to win a Moty award was the introduction of the Sidi Vertigo Corsa street boot. We are more than excited to have the Vemar Eclipse Night Vision fall into that same level of quality matched with innovation.

What makes the Vemar Eclipse Night Vision so special? Let's talk about an Italian brand helmet, made in Italy, and by a family owned manufacture that has a steep history in helmet production (Shark, Sparco, Ducati private label to name a few...) With quality comes exclusivity which is why the name Vemar may not be on the tip of your tongue when thinking of helmets. There is a reason you won't see 500 Vemar models sitting on the floor of your local dealer. Think about that Ford or Toyota dealership you drive past on your morning commute to work. Now think about that exotic car dealership that you have always wanted to go into. Same idea.

The "Night Vision" specific model of the Eclipse takes the already popular and excellent Eclipse model and ads a glowing paint scheme. This idea was originally produced for fire departments in Italy, but Vemar saw that offering this paint scheme to the public was a good idea as well. While other manufacturer's past attempt's at making a glowing paint theme came off as gimmicky, the Eclipse Night Vision comes in as a Hi-Viz safety feature that blows the door's off what was previously thought of as "H-Viz." I could write about it all day but check below and see for yourself.

Vemar Eclipse in Night Vision - Powersports Business 2012 Nifity Award Winner

Vemar’s Night Vision helmet is activated by absorbing the UV radiation of sunlight. The longer the exposure to sunlight the longer the helmet will emit its afterglow effect. The maximum a Night Vision helmet with glow is 8 hours. The glowing effect is more intense in the first 2-3 hours and then it starts gradually to become less intense. The Night Vision effect does not have a life span (just like the clock dials); it will outlast the useable lifespan of the helmet itself! Vemar’s exclusive Night Vision painting process is more complicated to apply than standard paint or graphics. Vemar’s proprietary paint formula includes a phosphorescent pigment that must be applied carefully, in three layers, over a special base coat.

The Vemar Eclipse in Night Vision is painted with a proprietary paint formula that includes a phosphorescent pigment applied in three layers over a special base coat. The glow properties are activated by absorbing the UV radiation of sunlight and will glow in the dark for a maximum of eight hours. The effect is more intense for the first two or three hours, and then it gradually lessens until reactivated by UV rays. The glow properties won't wear out and will outlast the useable lifespan of the helmet.

The 2012 version of the Eclipse helmet has an improved visor gasket for better sealing and an all-new shield mechanism. The removable, washable cheekpads are molded from a proprietary material that maintain their shape longer and are anti-bacterial and moisture-wicking.  The Eclipse has "Vemar Klima" adjustable, full-ventilation system with four intake vents on the top of the shell and two large exhaust vents in the rear. The helmet has a mid-oval shell shape and weighs around 1450 grams (3.19 pounds). It meets EC and DOT standards and comes with a five-year warranty. The Vemar Eclipse Night Vision Helmet is available in sizes small to XXL.
